Last year I documented the progress of a mural going up on a building located on the corner of SE Como Ave and 16th Ave SE in Minneapolis. The mural was designed and painted by Maggie Vanags, a graphic design student, from the University of Minnesota -Twin Cities Campus. The project started on May 19 and was close to being finished when the cold weather arrived in Minnesota.
The process consisted of - priming the wall, putting a light grid on the wall to assist in drawing the mural on a big scale and finally painting the mural.
It was interesting to see the technique and follow the progress. There were a lot of curious passersby that stopped to talk to the artist. Maggie always took the time to answer questions but learned very quickly to continue working while she talked. Below are images documenting the progress. I will update the post with a final shot of the artist and the finished mural upon completion.

The details… Note: the girl in the upper left corner is a self portrait of the artist herself.
Mural progress through April 6, 2021. Stayed tuned for the final product.
